Discover Diablo Valley Drug and Alcohol Services
Located in Northern California’s Contra Costa community, Diablo Valley has a singular mission: to defeat the disease of addiction by combining medical knowledge with therapy at a drug addiction treatment center to help clients find relief and achieve their goal of leading addiction-free and pain-free lives.
Unlike many addiction-treatment centers that take a business-first approach, we are powered by science and driven by compassion. Founded and led by a physician who is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Diablo Valley strives to provide the best possible medical support and most current available treatments for addiction and chronic pain.
Diablo Valley Drug and Alcohol Services is run by certified medical professionals and therapists with years of experience in treating addiction and helping patients manage chronic pain. Our chief medical director, Daniel Smeester M.D., is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. His experience in emergency rooms and in treating chemical dependency have helped him to create a program that effectively addresses all aspects of addiction and alcoholism, and his passion for equine therapy has opened opportunities for patients to experience the healing power of this treatment method at Diablo. Dr. Smeester’s medical experience is the foundation of Diablo Valley’s comprehensive detox services. Because our medical staff is certified and experienced in providing medical treatment for addiction and alcoholism, patient care is approached through evidence-based treatment methods that include safe medication management, a range of detox processes, and continuing care and management of detox symptoms throughout a patient’s time at a Diablo drug addiction treatment center. Co-occurring disorders are common in individuals who suffer from substance dependence, and our clinical staff is experienced in treating these underlying conditions that may exacerbate addiction. Because our staff is equipped to treat co-occurring disorders, our patients have a stronger chance of achieving not only recovery but long-term holistic health.
Our clinical director, Jeri Stegman, MA, MFTI, RAS, has over twenty-five years of experience in behavioral health treatment in both inpatient and outpatient facilities. Ms. Stegman is certified and experienced in providing substance abuse counseling, marriage and family counseling, and in developing and directing behavioral health programs. Her experience with treating substance dependence and co-occurring disorders, as well as her work with criminal justice, adolescent, and women’s programs qualify Ms. Stegman to direct a program that addresses each individual client’s psychosocial needs. As a result, the program at Diablo Valley Drug and Alcohol Services is geared towards clinical and medical care with a focus on addressing all of the needs of each client through holistic care, family and individual therapy, mental health treatment, and aftercare services.
